H&M finally back on track

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

It’s been the consensus amongst my lady friends that H&M had hit a rocky patch for the past year or so, with the exception of the Rykiel collection- of course. The clothes had just been bland and lacked that cool euro edge we remembered from back when you had to trek to New York City to get a fix.

Thankfully, it looks like they’re back judging by the fall look book online. There are some VERY CUTE pieces, and a really awesome app called Fashion Studio to put them together.

Retail Roundup: Coach

coach handbags

Once the domain of hood rats and people who actually shop for fashion accessories inside Disney parks, Coach has been making a respectable come back over the last several seasons. Though they’d fare better to leave the cartoony hip-hop sneakers and colorful urban prints to Louis Vuitton and Fendi, their return to their classic equestrian logo and overall “Weekend in Nantucket” styling is a welcome turn for the better. Part of what they’ve done is return to classic, clean styling and appeal to a younger audience, taking a few pages from Tod’s and Marc Jacobs’ books. I can’t recall ever wanting anything by Coach before so my hats off to them!

Clockwise from the top:

  1. Felt Beret $148.00
  2. Great American Tattersall Trench $798.00
  3. Poppy Three Strand Flower Necklace $198.00
  4. New Fayth Boot  $358.00
  5. Bonnie Large Tote $358.00
  6. Skyla Flat $158.00
  7. Madison Julianne Tote $458.00
  8. Sailor Stripe Sweater $198.00

Retail Roundup: Betsey Johnson

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

retail-roundup_betseyjI have a long standing love affair with Betsey; my first brush with her flirty-dress-greatness goes all the way back to high school. Every season she does at least one dress that I must have, this season she’s done about five. Here are my recent favorites:

  1. I don’t exactly know where this monkey theme is coming from, but I love it nonetheless.  $55.00
  2. More fun that a barrel of monkeys. Here she combines “refined lady” pearls with humor and fun. $85.00
  3. Body con is back! At first I was a little weary of this slim fitting dress, but it is SUPER flattering and easy to wear. You will turn heads in this, $265.00
  4. Channel your inner Peggy Bundy in these flower leggings. $98.00
  5. Part casual knit dress, part Vivienne Westwood and a dash of pirate, this dress is a SHOW STOPPER. I dream about it. $295.00
